Oh, Mother! the source of Joy for the mountain king (daughter of Himavan), the gladdener of the Universe (being its creator) the one worshipped by Nandin, the one abiding in the Vindhyas which is the best among the mountains, the souce of joy for Vishnu (being his sister), the one saluted by Indra, the one belonging to the family, the one granting more and more benefits.

Oh Mother! the showerer of boons for the gods, the subjugator of the wicked forces, the destroyer of the eveil faced ones, the one enjoying the bliss, the nourisher of the three worlds, the one adding to the pleasure of Sankara, the remover of the sins, the one reveling in elation, the queller of the pride of the demons, the one that is infuriated at the demons, the one that dries up the pride of the enemies, the daughter of the ocean.

Oh, it is You Who possesses the invinceable force that vanquishes hard-to-subdue enemies in battle Who promoted Pramatha, the great attendant of Shiva, a master of subtle thinking, to be Her general in battle, Who destroyed the messengers of the demons, who were sinful, with evil intention in their thoughts and minds,

Who decks Her tender limbs with fine dancing ornaments at the moment of battle, as She readies Her bow, Who slays huge enemy soldiers with Her shining sword and arrows from Her golden-brown quiver, Who plays with the vast enemy forces arrayed on the battlefield as if they were screaming toy soldiers,

Oh Mother! the one possessing a splendour that is alluring like the brighthess of Parijata Flowers that bloom in the gardens of the good hearted heavenly beings, the one bearing the face that is beautiful like the moon that is born from the milky ocean and that which shines brightly at night, the one possessing bee like eyes, the one wearing the flowers that are crowded with bees and hence getting the name ‘Bhramara’.

Oh Mother! the one, though tender like a jasmine creeper, yet surpassing the ablest of the wrestlers, that are experts in various styles of wrestling, the one surrounded by creeper like girls bedecked with jasmine flowers that are attended upon by swarms of bees, the one who is tender like the sprouts that are reddish, being fresh.

Who surpasses the thousand-rayed sun with the brilliance of Her own thousand hands, and Who is in turn praised by a thousand suns,
Who does battle to save the Gods, and Whose sons fought the demon Taraka and are Saviors

Oh Benevolent Goddess, accompanied by Shiva, when one daily cherishes Your lotuslike feet, Then, Oh lotus-dwelling Lakshmi, how will one not become wealthy?
Oh Auspicious Goddess, what riches will not be mine, if I earnestly believe that Your feet are the highest goal to be achieved?

If one bathes You, the playground of virtues, in the shining golden waters of the ocean, Will one not experience in Heaven the joy, equal to that of Indra, of embracing the full bosom of Sachi? Oh Goddess worshipped by the Gods Themselves, I take refuge at Your feet, which are also the abode of Shiva.
